Urgent!!! Read now!!

First off, I want to apologise for slamming another land-use issue in your faces.

But this one is another big, big deal. This is a code Red, Klaxon sounding, bring the rain, unleash the dogs of war, kinda announcement. PLEASE help us out!

Our Holy Grail: The Rubicon trail is in danger.

We may lose winter access and have limits on how many rigs can travel down the trail (or even WORSE) if we do not win this one.

The Rubicon Trail Foundation needs as many signed affidavits as possible before the 31st of this month. Lance has prepared this link with instructions on what to do:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/savetherubicon/

It will take a little effort on your part, but PLEASE send in this affadavit and more importantly: PLEASE PASS ON THIS LINK! Please post on local boards and thru your e-mail!

Tell the truth, this is a signed affidavit! Lieing is for the weenie closurists who are trying to close the trail -- we are WAY better than that!

That said, if your housemates and family 'wheel and use the Rubicon or plan to, get their signatures, too!

BTW, the sheer number of faxes is posing some technical challenges, so we have added a couple of backup faxes:
* primary fax: 888-6-RUBICON (888-678-2426)
* secondary fax: 530-644-5234
* tertiary fax: 916-444-6915
Thanks for the almost 300 people who have gotten us affidavits thus far – it is working!!!

If these numbers don't work, wait a few clicks and try again!

I have another primary fax line that can now be used, courtesy of Cal, another Friend of the Rubicon: 818.729.9258

FYI, we're averaging about one fax every 90 seconds on the 888-6-RUBICON line, and the new line can handle two simultaneous faxes every 40 seconds or so sustained.

This new number feeds my email just like the 888-6-RUBICON line does, and helps minimize the paper trail and keep it more electronic... gotta save those trees, right?

By rough count, we'll be blasting past 500 faxes shortly... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Please remember that we want honest, truthful replies. You are signing a legal document and it should be true.

If you have kids that can make a reasonable decision, they can sign one too.

Your two year old may not qualify and though it may be tempting the dog definitely does not

Keep on FAXing!!

If the Rubicon Trail is closed, for any reason and at any time of
the year, I will choose, at the same time of the year, a different trail in
El Dorado County or an adjacent foothill county, to recreate in my, or
as a passenger in someone else’s, off-highway vehicle.
Why do you put this in the affidavit?

Isn't that saying that if you close the trail you will be perfectly happy to spend your dollars in the same locale, county and tax base?
That if the trail is closed for any reason, you will find another.

Oh please, learned counsel, explain how that shows the need to keep the trail open?

For one, there is NO PLACE else during the winter to wheel in Eldo on a dirt road. That was all shut down during the EIS.

and for two, it would be taking away from the local economy.

For three, it would create user-conflict on other trails and more rigs on other trails (during the summer)

and for four, the Lawyer wrote the affadavit, so I am pretty sure he has a pretty good reason.

Randii may chime in with more reasons....
